Junior Department

Formed in 1929, the first formal Junior Department Cotillion was held 1959. The tradition continues today, promoting service, leadership, education and culture in young women.

Junior Department members meet on the first Sunday of the month and plan an event for each meeting. In the past, members have planned everything from an ice cream social to community service projects. Each Junior is required to complete 10 hours of community service. The highlight of the year for the Junior Department is the Cotillion each April.

Junior Department March / April Newsletter Report

The Juniors have been very busy the last couple of months and aren't slowing down in the coming few!   In January, we had our annual Pulse workout meeting with Heather Michael at The District.  This is always a favorite with our members.  In February we had Chloee Hurst, Community Wellness Coordinator with the Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program, talk to us about nutrition and making healthy choices.  Everyone was quite shocked to learn how sugar finds its way into many of our favorite drinks and food.  Hopefully, some new habits will be formed.  Chloee was excited to present to us and has expressed interest in working with us again.

Elections were also held during our February meeting and we're excited to announce our 2025-2026 Board:

Within this group, 4 schools are represented: Terre Haute South, Terre Haute North, Sullivan and Northview.  We're excited to see what the future holds.

In March we will be hosting a Princess Tea at Dixie Bee Elementary.  On April 13th we will be holding the 66th annual Cotillion.  We have 12 Debutants this year and are very excited to honor them.  Within the next few weeks, we will be introducing our Debs through our Instagram account: @junior_department.  It's been a great year and it's hard to believe it's coming to an end.
